Reacquainting?

One of the hidden costs of treating compliance like a visitor is the time spent reacquainting.

Because apparently, in healthcare, we have plenty of time for that.

Time to remember where the policy lives.

Time to re‑interpret language we haven’t seen since last year’s training.

Time to figure out how this process was meant to work — not how it actually does.

All of this happens, of course, during an already full day.

Short staffing.

High census.

Competing priorities.

But sure — let’s pause and reintroduce ourselves to compliance.

That pause isn’t about capability.

It’s about cognitive load.

Reacquainting asks people to slow down, translate, and second‑guess at the exact moment they’re being asked to move quickly and think clearly.

Family doesn’t require reintroduction.

You don’t need a refresher on how they think.

There’s shared context.

Systems should work the same way.

When compliance is familiar — when it’s woven into daily work — it doesn’t take time.

It gives time back by reducing hesitation, workarounds, and “let me double‑check” moments.

Distance is expensive. And healthcare keeps paying for it in minutes we pretend we have.

This is the work I help organizations do —bringing compliance closer to the work, translating policy into plain language, and designing systems that hold up on the busiest days.

Not louder compliance.

Closer compliance.

Where is your team spending time reacquainting, instead of doing the work?
