No conference. No webinar. Just me, the open road, and watching the back end of a grain truck for 10+ hours.

For context: my husband needed a new grain truck, found a used one 8 hours away, and—logistics being what they are—we had to get it home.

That grain truck represents a part of farming that’s easy to overlook if you don’t live and breathe it.

I know, because before I married a farmer, I overlooked it too.

The same thing happens in the compliance world.

In fact, many of the most critical—and most overlooked—elements are laid out plainly in Part III of the OIG’s ICPG for Nursing Facilities, including:

• Oversight roles

• Compliance officer experience

• The role of the compliance committee

• Training

• Risk assessments

• Reporting requirements

They’re easy to overlook, but they still carry the load—keeping the operation steady and on track.

This is where clear procedures and thoughtful processes help prevent problems before they start.

And whether you’re a large hospital system or a single nursing facility, having effective systems in place isn’t optional—it’s foundational to long‑term success.

So I’m curious: what’s one system you’ve struggled to fully implement?

If this is something you’re working through, I help organizations strengthen these systems every day—feel free to reach out.

(Pic of actual grain truck that I followed. For 10+ hours.)
